Fun Summer Events in HCC
Summer is in full swing in Hope, Cascades & Canyons, and our region has a massive lineup of entertaining events all season long. HCC is the place to be for loads of fun surrounded by mountains and sun! We’ve done the legwork and compiled a list of events so you don’t have to miss out on a single moment. How many events will you attend this summer?
MARKETS
HOPE & DISTRICT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FARMERS MARKET
Every Friday, 9 AM – 2 PM at 3rd Avenue between Wallace & Fort Street
Purchase delicious produce straight from local farms, as well as jewelry, baking, plants, wood and metal crafts, crocheted and knitted items, and much more.
HOPE MOUNTAIN MARKET
Every Saturday, 9 AM – 2 PM in Memorial Park
Shop a variety of vendors for items like fresh farm eggs, fruit, baking, jewelry, wood creations, photography, knitted and crocheted items and much more!
BOSTON BAR SUNDAY MARKET
Every Sunday, 10 AM – 2 PM at Canyon Alpine Area
With so many farms and ranches in the area, this is a great spot to pick up farm-fresh produce and plants! You’ll also find delicious baking and loads of hand-crafted goods, from soaps to jewelry, and everything in between!
MUSIC & ART
CONCERTS IN THE PARK
Every Friday, 6:30 PM – 8:15 PM at the Bandstand in Memorial Park
Presented by the Hope & District Arts Council, this FREE concert series features a fantastic lineup of musical performers showcasing a variety of musical genres. Reimer’s Food Truck will be on site so you can enjoy tasty eats, and a market will be set up in the nearby tennis court. Bring a lawnchair and bask in the sweet sounds of melodies floating in the warm summer breeze! Click below to see the full schedule of performances.
HOPE ART CRAWL
August 12 & 13, 10 AM – 5 PM Daily, in Various Locations
Forty artists in 18 locations in Hope, Silver Creek, Kawkawa Lake and Ruby Creek Art Gallery will be showcasing and selling their art at locations including homes, art galleries, gardens, a brewery, and local businesses. FREE maps will be available at Hope’s Visitor Information Centre, local businesses, and shared on social media. You’re invited to meet the artists, browse the creations and celebrate Hope’s amazing artists!
CELEBRATIONS, FESTIVALS & FAIRS
THE BIENNIAL HOPE CHAINSAW CARVING COMPETITION
August 17 – 20 in Memorial Park
This highly anticipated, world-class event features sixteen master carvers coming from near and far to transform raw wood into detailed works of art in a battle for top honours. Chainsaws will be roaring and sawdust flying in this exciting event, which is followed by an awards ceremony and auction for the carvings on the last day. A market will be onsite to browse while you wander the grounds.
PARKS DAY CELEBRATIONS AT MANNING PARK
July 15, 11 AM – 3 PM at Lightning Lake Day Use Area
Join the fun in celebration and appreciation of the region’s breathtaking parks. The day will include a barbecue from 12 PM – 2 PM, crafts, face painting, community booths and more!
HOPE FLOATS FESTIVAL
July 29, 3-6 PM at Kawkawa Lake
The Lions Club Hope Floats Festival is back for its third year! Grab your inflatables, paddle boards, and tubes and come to Kawkawa Lake for an afternoon of floating, contests, prizes, music, and an inflatable station! Hope Lions Club will be lakeside selling popcorn and refreshments. The goal is to hit 300 people in the lake, so invite your friends and family to join in the fun!
LIGHTS ON LIGHTNING LAKE AT MANNING PARK
August 5, 10 AM – 10 PM at Lightning Lake Day Use Area
Learn to create a floating lantern, then meet at Spruce Bay Beach at 9 PM for the official lantern launch! It is truly a magical sight to witness glowing lanterns floating on the water at night! *The workshop is first-come, first served, and cash only.
KITE FESTIVAL – WINGS ON THE WIND KITE BUILDING WORKSHOP AT MANNING PARK
September 2, 11 AM – 2 PM at Lightning Lake Day Use Area
Learn how to build your very own kite, then launch it into the skies above Lightning Lake to swoop and soar! *Workshop is first come, first served, and cash only.
HOPE BRIGADE DAYS
September 9-11 at 6th Avenue Fairgrounds
A grand parade, carnival rides and games, food trucks, concerts, beer gardens, the Briggie Bazaar market, demolition derby, show and shine, logger sports, motorsports, phew – and even more! This beloved annual event provides endless entertainment for the whole family! Don’t miss out!
