If you’ve been to Hope before, you’ll have undoubtedly seen some of the 80 plus chainsaw carvings scattered all over town. Each of these carvings are pieces that chainsaw carvers have created during past competitions! During your visit, stop by the Hope Visitor Centre to start the self-guided tour of chainsaw carvings around town and imagine where this year’s carvings may end up!

We’d like pay homage to Pete Ryan, a legendary carver and integral member of the chainsaw carving community who passed away in January 2021. A mentor to young carvers, Pete had a natural artistic talent and a kind, friendly and easy-going nature that made him beloved by many. Several of Pete’s carvings can be spotted around Hope to this day, but the legacy he left behind was much bigger than his beautiful carvings. Pete was an inspiration to many carvers and his memory will live on due to his love of art and helping others thrive in carving.

We can’t wait to see what the visionary carvers come up with this year! Come on out and witness their brilliance and skill while basking in our beautiful summer weather. Check out Hope Chainsaw Carving Competition for more details!
